Bradshaw

Ken Bradshaw Surfboards

Arguably the best big wave rider on the North Shore during the 80’s, along with contemporaries like Mark Foo, Darrick Doerner and Brock Lile, Ken Bradshaw lifted the bar on paddle-in big wave surfing. His exploits at Waimea Bay became legendary, and he climaxed his competitive career by winning the prestigious Duke Kahanamoku Surfing Classic in 1982, which launched his reputation as one of the North Shore’s best. Parlaying his notoriety to commercial success throughout the 80’s he was one of the top finishers in “ The Eddie” event when first held at Waimea Bay in 1986.

On January 28, 1998, Ken rode the biggest wave ever ridden in history on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii at an outer reef known as Outside Log Cabins. This wave was considered to be in excess of 85 feet. That same day he also rode another 20 waves between 40 and 65 feet to make this the largest day ever ridden.

Ken’s dream has always been the same, to be one of the best big wave riders, and possibly the best big wave surfer in the history of the world. It looks like his dream may have come true.

Bradshaw’s 82/83 Personal 10′ Gun. He rode and won the Duke on this Board.  Note it was one of the 1st 3 fin Guns adapted to ride big waves and set the standard of Tri-fin Guns in the 80’s.  Included with this Board is also Bradshaw’s Duke Trophy, Jersey, Wetsuit and Shorts.  Stoked to have this as part of the collection and truly honored. This is a cool 80’s Wing Pintail I stole from vintagesurfboard.net out of Florida.   He was in the heated moment of selling everything and over the Surfboard Business, thus I swooped in and put a package deal together on his best 80’s boards and by gones are by gones.  Stoked to have them and so is Gumba!   I later traded this board to a friend for a bitchen 1980’s Weber Performer full floral skateboard.  But all in the Cartel.   Note:  this is not one of Ken’s Personal Riders.   Just a hand shape by Ken.   B
