Another cool find in the OC. Storage War’s. Another Man’s Fall is another Man’s Gain. What can I say, but another great example of a 1970’s Mini-Hawaiian Sunset Gun. Made and surfed in Hawaii is this Donald Bennett. I do not have much history on DRB, but all you viewers, please partake and advise. – Buggs (o) 7.5. Coolio Lams and rainbow bolt. The Photo’s tell the story. – B

My Dad shaped this board in the early 80’s is this for sale?
Hello, I have a similar board from Donald Bennett. I understand this one is from the 70ties.? (sunset mini gun single glass on fin?) I’m also looking for more information, I understand Donald R Bennett , is a shaper from the East Coast and that in 1976 he moved to the North Shore were he was working and shaping for labels like “Lighting Bolt” and “Brewer’.
I also have a board your dad shaped. I’m thinking its late 60’s, early 70’s. 7′ pintail. Real thick. Looks to be made from a longboard blank. No logo on the board but it has Donald R. Bennett written on the stringer. If you are interested in buying it, get back with me. Thanks.
I had a Donald R. Bennett single fin about 7″ maybe a bit shorter, bought in a small surf shop in Hale’iwa in the late 70s, had a beautiful airbrushed scene on it of a wave at Pipeline at sunset, artist unknown. After surfing with it a while and collecting the usual dings and a busted tail, I sold it to a place in town about 1980s. I wish I’d taken better care of it!
Later met D. Bennett doing some handy work for the Blue Cross Animal Hospital, and later still ran into him in the “trials” motorcycle scene out in Kahuku mid-80s.
